This piece incorporates the use of Chine Colle and is part of my "Uniquely Human" Series.

The dictionary defines human as pertaining to, characteristic of or having the nature of people. A human being can also be described as a person, soul or being mortal.   Humans have the unique ability to communicate using words, symbols, gestures, and facial expressions.  Being human also means to have choices about who we want to be.

Being human is complex. Humans are full of hope, promise, fear, and anger. To be human is to experience life in all its’ potential. Plato believed that “humans have immaterial mind (souls) and material body.  That our souls exist before birth and after death.  The soul is the source of everything we feel – love, anguish, anger, ambition. And most of our mental conflict as humans are caused by these aspects not being in harmony”.

In this series, I worked to create pieces that express the human condition, our perceptions, and conflict.
